My understanding is that with ADSL you have 'instant on' and the internet is always there. Of course your phone company buddy is going to say you don't want a cable modem. <ggg> You will also be able to use the same line for phone conversation while you are surfing the net. When you are ready to buy, you might want to check with the manufacturer of the machine regarding ADSL, I have read that manufacturers next year will be selling packages based on geographic location that will work in tandem with the local RBOC for a smooth installation. By the way, Rudedog said a couple months back he was running ADSL at home and liked it.

PS - You are right about Dulane, there was also another guy that always posted in CAPS complaining about CPQ's stock price. He sold not that long ago. Can't remember his name but it will come to me...
