There were several links posted a couple of weeks ago, one by a reseller rag and one which quoted a RS guy directly which compared the sales of the CPQ products to the previous Aptiva sales, saying that CPQ was moving a lot more product for RS.

Personally I don't think much about the RS deal one way or another, I go there to buy batteries, but frankly it doesn't surprise me that CPQ outsold aptiva.

BTW I think your analysis of the cash position is pretty interesting, it's one thing to take the write-off but a different issue to actually write the severence checks. I have no doubt CPQ could generate the cash as they have almost no debt, but I think they have a fundamental aversion to borrowing money. That could explain why the big layoffs have been pushed into '99... waiting for the post-xmas cash.
