I have to agree with you on IBM. They seem to be less adept at marketing their retail PC's than CPQ this quarter. One clerk I talked to said that CPQ was bundled a printer (cheapo) with its PC and undercutting IBM's price for an equivalent PC.

I suspect that CPQ is hoping to generate some cash this quarter to finance part of their restructuring and layoffs. Also their cash position gives the AV spinoff some real motivation.

I do not think they will be able to complete their plan by mid 1999, it is going to take much longer.

I suggest you protect your CPQ position towards the end of this month. DELL should be on the move by then as well as it was last year.
