Poodle, the current impeachment uncertainty is bad for the market and it will likely continue to drop during the process, followed by a huge relief rally to new highs when it is over.

The downside scenario for the market would be a successful impeachment of Clinton followed by an attack on Gore by Congress, continuing the uncertainty. This Republican Congress is unrivaled in their willingness to vote as dictated by party leaders without regard to the public desires. Is it possible that they are stupid enough to continue down this path of self destruction by also trying to impeach Gore?

The precedent being established is that no future President will be able to rule when Congress is controlled by the other party, he will be continually crippled by investigations and procedings. The American tradition of a split ticket is being destroyed and we are rapidly moving to a parlimentary form of government. I hate it, the split ticket has provided debate and balance in the past when Congress persons were free to vote their own will rather than forced into block voting along party lines as now.

Frankly I don't care if they remove Clinton if it stops there, the jerk did make some really bad personal mistakes and his only remorse is that he got caught. But I fear it won't stop there. I fear that this whole process is about over riding the will of the electorate and putting one party in full control. If you can't win at the ballot box, impeach! That is a scary thought.

Hopefully I am just feeling pesimistic tonight and this foolishness will all come to an end next week.

Democrat dominated CNBC doesnt make the sitiation easier.
The writers and producers at CNBC are democrats and they try to scare people into believing that Clinton is important to the bull market. They show clips of clinton supposters with no rebuttal.
they constantly show clinton in a good light.
They dont give equal time to his critics.
The fact is that his removal is a emotional factor in the market not a real one and CNBC exacerbates this.
The market is down today because of Europe and asia not Clinton.
