This cracks me up. A major poll shows that most Americans believed Clinton committed perjury and obstruction of justice. But as the impeachment hearings wear on, it appears the small percentage of people who are undecided on this matter are moving toward opposing impeachment. But basically opinions remain unchanged, according to a CNN/USA Today/Gallup poll:

Should committee vote to impeach Clinton?
-------Dec. 10---Dec. 9---Dec. 8
Yes-----34%-------34%------34%
No------63%-------61%------59%

Sampling error: +/-5% pts

Maybe the conservatives should just elect a new public, to paraphrase Bertolt Brecht.

<< ... was the disgust on the part of the interviewer and this professor for this abuse of power - by the republicans (not by Clinton). >>

I hope that you can find a link to the transcript.

Why are the Republicans willing to throttle this nation and do damage to the "separation of powers" foundation of the constitution? They're not stupid. They know exactly what they are doing!

I feel that they are trying an all out attempt to gain control of congress and the WH in 2000. They might feel that, if they had total power they would not have to worry about "separation of powers".

So, they damage, severely, the Democrats ability to raise funds. Who is going to be willing to pay $1000 - $10,000 a plate to eat dinner with this damaged President at a fund raiser?

They hope that if they can keep hammering away at the President, they will finally turn the opinion polls around. If the people turn against the President, the Republicans might feel that they will have a shoe-in in 2000.

The question: Will the people, the great silent majority, see thru this unAmerican Republican plot and speak loudly at the polls in 2000? Only the people can undo the damage done by the Republicans to our constitution and country.
