JEB, all, ASTM This was taken from Astrom's home page:

"The AastromReplicellâ„¢ System is being used in a trial at Duke University Medical Center (under the direction Kurtzberg, M.D.) to increase the number of transplantable cord blood
cells in an effort to improve recovery outcomes in children with these types of otherwise fatal blood diseases. This trial, conducted under an FDA Investigational Device Exemption, was expanded this year based on positive initial results. A similar clinical study, using AastromReplicellâ„¢ System-expanded cord blood cells for adult cancer patients, is also underway at Loyola University Medical Center in Chicago and Hackensack Medical Center in New Jersey."

This is the same Dr. Joanne Kurtzberg of Duke University in the report given on the NBC Nightly News segment earlier this week. (Found it on the MSNBC website)

Note also that Duke University is also mentioned in the BBC URL that you gave JEB.

I don't know what will happen Monday, but the more I research this, the more I like it longer term.
