CHANNEL CHECK: GARDEN CITY NY (LONG ISLAND) COMPUSA.

Well they sold the 3 yes three, Hifd's they had last week....know won I spoke to there even knew what the drive was...not even the guy behind the counter with the HiFD media, packaged in plain brown cardboard box (guess Sony didn't have time to design a box)

This partucular store doesn't seem to highlight Zips and Jaz like other CompUSA's in the NY metro area.....they have plenty of Zips of all kinds all over the BACK of the store...they need to stack them near the entrance and at the registers.....!!!!!

Anyway, this is what I found....Jaz1 (refurb) drives in stock.Jaz2 Drives instock.Jaz1&2 disks in stock. Plenty of Zip disks in stock....lots of PP Zip and atapi internal.....Zip+ sold out Zip 250 not there yet....

Every time I go there the pallets and counters keep having less product (they're selling!!) until a new delivery comes in....looks like every 3-8 weeks depending on season

Zip Built IN:

# of sku's

Compaq's 4
HP 1
Apple 3

Would love to see more hp's any Ibm's and any NEC's or Packard Bell's but not yet unfortunatlly.

They war has not been won.......of the 20 million Zips sold......i would guess that more than half are external since OEM #'s have been rising only in the last year.....It is I believe the job of the Internals to make or break the Zip. IOM must continue to drive down costs and increase efficiency so that it can sell the the retail atapi internal at $49.99 and OEM it for $30-$35....at that price point, IMHO, the Zip becomes or will have already become "standard on all PCs sold....like the floppy {except for IMac}".....my definition of the word "standard".

Also..lots of VST and CNF laptop and notebook Zips....salesman said that they are selling "very well", his words not mine.

BTW, for the record I have been adding to my position....from 6 9/16 to 7 1/16.......and Ken I'm not averaging down...if you know what I mean.
