Anyone see the results of the WSJ/NBC poll, published in the WSJ Friday?

The following conclusion surprised me somewhat, in view of the WSJ's own pro-impeachment stand:

....But a new Wall Street Journal/NBC
News poll shows that the GOP faces a
skeptical public and some political risks.

By a better than 2-to-1 margin, Americans
oppose any effort by Congress to impeach
the president and remove him from office.
The same poll shows that the Republican Party has slipped to its lowest
level of popularity since the early 1990s, and its negative rating has
almost doubled to 39% from 22% in January 1995.

"The Clinton-Lewinsky matter has turned out thus far to be a lose-lose
proposition for the Republican Party, with the likelihood that their
continued pushing of impeachment will cause them more damage,"
said Democratic pollster Peter Hart and Republican Robert Teeter, who
conducted the Journal/NBC News survey.

I believe this is why there will not be a backlash against the Republicans, and why Clinton won't keep his presidency.

The backlash will not be so much for Clinton as it will be for the failure of the Republican Party to realize that they are the majority party and their behaving as if they are still sitting on the opposition benches.

What do you mean by "Clinton won't keep his presidency"? That the Senate will throw him out? Get real!
