DiaS, lots of ?????? on the answer to your "why no pop yesterday" question and it is a subject that deserves discussion. We learned yesterday from non-Vivus sources that the European deal was penned on 12/1/98. Vivus obviously knew well before that and I would imagine that well-placed folks and market makers were aware anytime from 12/1 on. One theory is that those in the "know" have been positioning for the mainstream European deal announcement... which has not happened yet: Vivus will isssue a press release etc.

When we can find the European announcement on any important and well used information site (Yahoo, Excite, all on-line brokers, CNN etc...) then the news will be genuine mainstreat stuff and the price of the stock should react accordingly. What may have been happening in terms of positioning by those who already know is accumulation and dumping of short shares. Don't know.

Somebody correct me if I'm wrong, but every other milestone payment was communicated through Vivus directly. No matter what the mechanics were, the way we found out yesterday was very unusual and provided a distinct window of buying opportunity for true belivers.

Vivus IR,I've read, has indicated to a member of our thread, and to a member of the Yahoo Vivus thread that they will make an announcement next week. The question now may be: Will it be European milestone information only, or is it going to address 1999 marketing plans as well. Regardless, the European $8M will become mainstream next week and we will see the effect on Vivus price. Whatever that effect may be. Another thing I don't understand yet is to which quarter the $8M will be credited: Q498 or Q199. One thing I do know is that any event that adds slightly over 25 cents per share to a $3 stock is news whenever it happens. Allllmost $3.

We know Muse is an effective product that has not been agressively marketed for market share. We know that the European announcement is great news for Vivus, but it is news that, for whatever reason, has not been agressively marketed. See a pattern? (g)

Anybody buy Vivus yesterday? I think a great many individual investors did.
