Craig,

<< Kind of like "I survived the Titanic"? <g>>>

Why not? Rose Dawson did and assume Jack's last name and lived to tell the story. May be the T-shirt should read 'Rose from Titanic'.<g>

Hi Craig:

You'd think that after these past couple of years (shareholder since April, 1996) of lurking I'd have a better handle on this but, after a conversation with a networking guy who works for BankBoston, (and is "retired" from IBM) I'm still a little confused.

He's of the opinion that investing in Fibre Channel is ludicrous. His outfit uses Gigabit Ethernet and he doesn't see Fibre Channel as anything more than a niche player. My understanding was that gigabit ethernet was better in LAN implementations but that there was room for both in WAN implementations and that fibre channel would rule in SAN's.

Do you think that you could take a moment and briefly discuss the two technologies (GE and FC) and their role in these environments (LAN, WAN and SAN)? I'm particularly confused about how these environments would interconnect and which technology would better serve the purpose.

Frankly, I'm not even sure I phrased the questions properly but I'm hoping you will get the gist of where I'm going and take a stab at it.

Thanks,

Bob
