Enigma, that is very interesting. Who is Shelby Spong? That is quite different from the current definition of a married person having sex (whatever that means AC [AC means after Clinton]) with someone other than his or her lawfully wedded spouse. The rule against adultery seems to have moved from property rights to its effect on interpersonal relationships. For example, the military rule was apparently established to keep fighting men from fighting with each other because one is messing around with another's wife.
