The Winners
Transamerica Premier Small Company [TPSCX] could thank its stakes of 11.00% in Amazon.com [AMZN] and 4.82% in Pixar [PIXR] for its cushy 2.44% gain on Wednesday. Amazon.com kept flying ever higher, adding 12 3/16 to end at 216 1/4. News that the Internet bookseller's stock was raised to "strong buy" from "buy" by an Axxel Institutional Equity Services analyst was a help. The bookseller's new Internet shopping service which allows comparison shopping for goods ranging from shoes to computer laptops was a plus, as well. Pixar, the computer animation company that created the film "Toy Story" and "A Bug's Life" added 1 1/8 to end at 42 1/8, on news that the opening numbers for "A Bug's Life" were on target. Holdings are as of September 30.
