Marty,

A buddy of mine recently took a new Sony video camera on a fishing trip with us that doubles in terms of digital stills and that was impressive. It was very small and relatively straight forward in its operation. It comes with software for the manipulation of photos on the PC. The pics on the TV monitor were gorgeous and I suspect would print well with one of the new photo quality printers (I am using an inexpensive H-P 720 which I am happy with. One thing to understand is that digital just cannot match the quality of film. I recommend an approach that regards it as a new medium. I still carry a film camera. For digital I am using a Nikon CoolPix 300 which is just OK. I have had fun manipulating photos with special affects using L-View or PhotoShop.
Best,
Stitch

PS If you like I will get the Sony model # from my buddy.

Best,
