Exactly. I'm counting on it, even if only on the densest routes. The business decision rests on whether to lease an entire solution [turnkey] or to lease only the lambdas from two of them [for redundancy-diversity-robustness], and carry the integration ball in house with the assistance of other integrators versed in the business model of imaging. This is a vertical area where even the most astute carrier orgs fall short. The deltas between these individual choices are significant, and not clear to the naked eye.

The handling of the comms component on the WAN is actually the simplest part, and things don't stop at the gateway or demarc.

The fun really begins when you take the emerging ANSI standards which are fashioned around EDI constructs, and proceed to transform practices that were entirely paper-based for over a century through the use of present-day technologies. Lottsa vested interests at play here.
