I think the key to a Clinton resignation, if it comes to that, is somewhere around January 20, 1999.

If VP Al Gore were to take on the Presidency with one day less than a half-term, he is entitled to run for two full additional terms.

I can't help but believe that this magic date is firmly in the minds of Democratic Party strategists. If Clinton is still an image problem when that date arrives I believe Democratic support for him may vanish over-night.
