- 3 points investors might find interesting:

a. MSFT has $17+ billion in cash

b. No long term debt.

c. Spends about $700 million a 1/4 buying up its own stock. Even at the high of $134/share, it works out to 77,000 shares a day.

It will be interesting to see what MSFT comes up with for the "home user" version of Windows 2000.

I wondered why they changed the name from NT 5.0 to Windows 2000. I thought was a mistake to change names. To me NT 5.0 made it sound more geared to the corporate world. Now I think their purpose is to increase sales to home users as well.

Think about it -- You call up Dell for example -- you can buy a sytem with Windows 98 or Windows 2000 -- If you are buying one of the more expensive systems and sales guy asks which O/S you want --Even if he tells you that you won't need Win200 for home use --- You would think since I am paying so much for the computer, why not buy the latest operating system (windows 2000) what is another $100 to $200.

I believe they will continue offering Windows 98 otherwise people would hate MSFT. The consumers would believe that the company just wants to grab more money for a more expensive O/S. Look for them to offer Win 98 well into 2001.

At first I thought it was bad name change -- now I think it was a brilliant move. I just hope that they continue offering Win98 for a long time after Win 2000 comes out especially since low cost computer sales are on the rise. Win2000 is there for people who want the latest no matter how much it cost and there are a lot of people like that.
Analogy -- Think about all of the people who for example like designer names in clothing or jewelry when a regular brand might be made the same way. I prefer the designer name and would probably pay for it

They are going to make big bucks -- That is why I believe this stock will soar -- 150s in January and higher during the year leading to Office 2000 release -- and then Windows 2000 release and it will skyrocket.
