Hutch,, I read this on my newswire at work on Friday.. A trader at Comex said that a producer hit the market with 2000 contracts , and the market was in no shape to absorb that kind of selling without a sharp drop.

Unless you are only concerned with short term movements in the POG how can you say that the trend is down for gold when it has been completely neutral for a year now. The metal may fluctuate between $275 and $300 or so, but I see no evidence that it is heading lower. With that said I see no evidence that it is going to head higher either.
As far as there being no deflation I disagree. Take a look at the CRB. Forget the PPI and the rest of the government numbers as they are as unreliable as ever.
