Art,

As a non scientist, I certainly won't debate the merits of global warming, pro or con. I will re-point out that there are multiples more people, a fraction of the amounts of trees, trillions of tons of manmade chemicals later and longer life spans now than 1600. How can this possibly be? What I do know about environmental problems is the earth does remediate itself to an astonishing degree. This fact is not part of any equation presented by any environmental group. Having said that, I'm in the group that wants common sense environmental restraints on industry,as I think most do. I think we all should want the answer to the above question before having a revolution in the western industrialized democracies myself. The answer is inescapable. We are better off now than then and it's because of the wealth the industrial age has delivered to the world along with educational and medical advances. Al Gore would not have allowed this transformation on earth. He is patently an enemy of this age as all environmental fanatics are. I suggest Al and his friends live on the only continent where it never came to pass,Africa. There, they can enjoy nature undisturbed by industry, chemicals, nuclear power, etc. They cannot, however, enjoy the standards of living or the long life span of all the rest of us poor slaves of the industrial age have enjoyed.

Hey Art!

My sister-in-law called today from Oklahoma City OK. The EPA Closed down 30 gas stations because of contamination. I believe this is just a tactic by the government to shore up oil prices. Now you may wonder why I think it would cause them to go up? Well the less places there are to buy gas, the less competition, therefore the increase in price. Hell if they just closed down 7-11, and Kum&Go the price would probably shoot up to 30.00 or more, and yes here in Arkansas they have Kum&Go stores. My wife will not go in one , she says the name just gives her the Willy's. Oh shit, I wonder what she meant by that.

Regards
DJC

P.S. A little humor on a not so funny day!
