Nope, you can't wriggle out of this one, Cheeky. :-) I accept your definition (made in an earlier post) of "Y2K cultists" as "persons who believe the world may end as we know it, or we will enter a major depression worse than the 30's." At the same time, you characterize folks like Bill Ounce as "alarmists", even though he clearly did not support the above scenario, and only suggested a mild recession might result from Y2K problems. So, even by your own standards, "cultists" and "alarmists" are by no means the same thing. Why is it that I keep getting the feeling that ANYONE who betrays ANY degree of concern about the possible consequences of Y2K is an "alarmist" in your view? Could it possibly be the heading to this thread -- Scam, Hype, Hoax, Fraud? Do I sense a certain lack of open-mindedness here? <gg> jbe P.S. I do not personally have the professional qualifications to judge which Y2K concerns are legitimate and which are just "hype". What are your qualifications, by the way?

Cheeky - I will refrain from that word and use the word "Alarmist" from now on Senator Robert F. Bennett (R-UT), co-chairman of the Senate Y2K Committee publically calls himself an alarmist..."like Paul Revere" Perhaps we should pick a different word. Cultist is fine...if Jerry Falwell is peddling video tapes claiming that Y2K is a sign from God, then I think we're safely within cultist territory for the extremists. - David
