As far as mobile phone market shares in USA, Europe and China are concerned, it looks like Nokia is picking up all or more of what Ericsson is losing. The share of these two Nordic companies is holding steady (USA) or increasing (EU and China). Since Ericsson and Nokia are among TI's most important DSP customers, this should be great for TI's future - as recently as last summer it was generally assumed that Nokia and Ericsson would gradually lose their combined share as global competition heats up. I think this Ericsson-triggered decline in TI price looks like a panic reaction - if Ericsson is losing share to Nokia it hardly affects TI, since the swing takes place within the TI camp.

Ericsson's new phone introductions next spring should reverse their recent sharp market share decline and from next summer onward TI's share of mobile phone DSP market could climb substantially. More of my views on the mobile phone market at
