ed......hal,

is it our destiny then, to be on a wild goose chase...

if so,
then i am a bit miffed we don't have the december stats yet...
my main concerns being the pintail, and whether the snow geese
have made their presence known this month in significant number.

if we are to chase geese,
let us at least know there are enough to go around.

but november did offer some wonderful sightings.

November in California
- report by Lori Boon, DU Staff, Western Regional Office 11/11/98

Every year tremendous numbers of birds spend the winter in California's Central Valley. This year waterfowl numbers are down by 25 %, with pintails being of particular concern. It is important to keep in mind, however, that weather conditions are the driving factor when considering bird numbers.

There are over 200,000 white-fronted geese reported in the area, large numbers of Aleutian Canada geese, and the snow geese have just started to arrive.

Brant have been reported in Humboldt and Morro Bay, however, large numbers have not yet arrived. In Oregon and Washington winter is bringing on cold weather, typical at this time of year, unlike the warm conditions experienced last year.
