Glenn, I've always thought that thin client is the right solution for implementations like bank tellers, customer service desks, and other users who have a consistent, static work environment. In the corporate environment, however, people have to be able to do their own thing.

I'm an old mainframer who started long before 3270 dumb terminals. The server-centric design is without question easier to design for and to control. Frankly, I'm surprised the network computers have taken so long to get a foothold. The company has the right idea, but (as their filing says) they face tremendous competition and pretty clearly imply that they really need their existing (but diminishing) revenues to make it happen. Look at Yahoo's estimated earnings projections and how many times they have been reduced. Only the "next year" still looks ok.
