Good morning, Clark, <<Interesting how far we have come that these huge amounts - this is just what they admit to in Japan and the number is probably much larger - is greeted by a yawn here on SI and in our newspapers.>> I don't know if it is a "yawn"; certainly not by this person. It is more mute incomprehension. I have no idea how to make sense of such write-offs. But, then, I didn't even know how to make sense of the far less dramatic write offs of US banks 8, 9 years ago, and so missed one of the great investing opportunities in financial stocks of all time by sitting on the sidelines.
