One of the killer Clik apps I would like to see would be a portable digital dictaphone using Clik disks instead of the ubiquitous micro cassettes. A little thought about this reveals numerous advantages over current dictation technology. Disk-based recording would give one random file access for convenient editing while dictating. One could have a system with simple built-in word recognition to facilitate editing such as sentence by sentence search or word insertion. The MP-3 compression scheme would allow one to pick between various combinations of recording quality and length. Best of all, such a media would be a natural input pathway for the rapidly maturing technology of voice translation. With programs like Dragon software's Naturally Speaking, it will not be long before dictation in businesses and hospitals will be facilitated with such technology. Iomega really stands to be at the forefront of this technology with Clik if they work to develop such a system. Best of all, they could sell TONS. Anybody at Iomega listening?
