Lynn,

Schwab's restriction will have little impact on the continued volatility on inet stocks. Daytraders use online firms specifically customized for day trades. They are going to play the minute by minute game one way or another. Customers who want to trade often can still use the phone as often as they wish, but for a higher commission. Schwab runs the risk of losing customers to other less expensive online brokers like Ameritrade, Brown & co. and Waterhouse who do not limit such transactions (not yet anyway).

What will be more important factor in “controlling” the volatility is raising the margin requirements for many inet stocks. Waterhouse and others have considered raising the minimum requirement from 50% to 60 or even 100%. That way you can only buy with your own money not borrowed. Rapid drops have cause many to answer margin calls and most end up dumping the stock at any price. Having to send cash to buy a stock, as opposed to using equity in other stocks, makes it more likely the investor will hold longer and be less likely to shift in and out every 5 minutes.

Traded in and out of NAVR the last couple of weeks and at present am long with a small position. Finally visited the Net Radio Site and the thing has potential, but I kept getting cut off because of "network congestion...rebuffering" frustrating as hell. They need to debug this thing and make some bucks doing some advertising on the site.

A few posts back someone said there wouldn't be much interest in broadcasts on the their computer mainly because of the tech.quality and everything else out there sondwise. I live in a small rural community surrounded by mountains and can't pull in squat for radio stations, I'd trade NAVR and listen to NET Radio all day long if it worked.

Come on NAVR folks get this debugged, advertise some prime TV spots saying that CDPoint/NET Radio dot com. is THE place to get your CD's and other junk, run a half price CD sale if you have to.....get some customers and DO the IPO.....soon please.
