John, unfortunately, it is the same with all presidents (not sex but less then the truth on "sensitive affairs"). From Eisenhaur yielding to Bulganin's Nuclear ultimatum in 1956, to Bush's ambassador in Iraq, telling Saddam we would consider his "intervention in Kuwait" an internal affair. I just think that political jealousy is blowing this incident out of proportion, since there is certainly a possible point of view, that Clinton's maintenance that he did not perjure himself, based on his different interpretation of the ternm sexual relationship, holds, after all, it was just "assisted M..."

John "Apparently providing different terms to each side in the latest middle east negotiations to get an agreement that they had to back down on when it threatened to collapse"

Why should you be surprised? There's nothing new under the stars - it seems de rigeur for authorities to lie at almost every level. If there's an incident at a nuclear power station for example - the need to avoid panic exceeds the need for the truth.

The whole history of the Western Powers' dealing in the middle east is one of playing off one side against another - basically they're all bad guys acting in bad faith and in their own self interest. And this includes the Israelies. Sadaam was for a while a good bad guy until he stepped over some line or other. A good case could be made for the fact that he was double crossed over Kuwait - now that was under Bush not Clinton, and Iran contra was under Reagan, and the bay of Pigs............. E
