From the Drudge Report....

PAPER: PAPER: NEW SPEAKER TO VOTE FOR IMPEACHMENT, OPPOSE CENSURE

Rep. Bob Livingston, the incoming speaker of the House, said late Saturday night in an interview with the NEW YORK TIMES that he adamantly supported impeachment of President Clinton and would fight to prevent a censure resolution from a vote in the full House.

The Livingston interview was being added to late editions of the Sunday TIMES, according to publishing sources.

"We have a constitutional responsibility to charge or not charge, impeach or not impeach," Livingston tells the paper.

"After the House Judiciary Committee voted Saturday night to barr a censure resolution offered by Democrats, Livingston said for the first time that he considered it to be an attack on the rules, and therefore an attack on the speaker and on the majority party," reports the paper.

"Nixon faced impeachment because he covered up a burglary committed by others," he said. "He did not perjure himself in that cover-up."

Livingston said Clinton, however, had admitted "certain acts that he covered up and admits to having covered up."

"So why was impeachment the remedy for Nixon and not for Clinton?" said the incoming speaker.

Developing late...

Barbara..I agree..Who was it that said that his wife would say "How do I reload this thing?"

Another aspect of this whole thing is for people to keep on a level ground and not become reactionary or insiteful as some would have us beleive by the tone of their words here on this thread.

yea..politics is a touchy subject..however, if people don't get too boistruss its a good way to pass a slow Sunday on the thread when all of the stock hype has been hasshed over several times already.
