I use ameritrade and haven't had any problems for some time. They do slow down if mrkt goes crazy however they have mentioned system been upgraded. If you trade mrkt orders its $8. limit $13 fyi. I also have waterhouse for non ira and do some small trades on their system I believe all trades $12.

Sb2K,

TheStreet.com just ran a series comparing all the major online brokers. I don't recall how Ameritrade came out. You can access some of that site's content for free, but large parts of it require a paying membership. I use Discover Brokerage Direct.
