I chased somebody down who was rollerskating by and had money fall out of his pockets..he looked as if he needed. He was surprised when I gave it back to him...I thought I would never see him again..It turned out in the next few months I repeatedly saw him..I laughed at how I would have been reminded everytime I saw him if I hadn't gotten it back to him
Another day I was walking across the street being pulled by my strong little dogs and money came out of my jacket..couldn't immediately get it because the light changed..then I saw an older lady pick it up.
I said that was my money that just came out of my jacket and I described the bills. She didn't want to give it back..I added if you need it that badly...then keep it..She gave it back!
The funniest story was once in London..I took a cab with a friend and gave the cabdriver the money..He got very upset with us and said you have confused your bills..he told us we had to be more careful with our money since we gave him way too much and gave back the correct change..that would never ever happen in NYC..when we tried to give him a big tip for his honesty..he refused that too!
A friend of mine who recently died of cancer was forced to take cabs and the fast meters upset her more than the cancer..that really made her feel helpless(ps most cab drivers work very long hours and hardly get paid anything..goes to the company from which they usually hire the cab)
