Chip: "The man is overly obsessed with hating the minidriver IMHO."

HA! So true! But it is amazing that anyone can be so damned obsessed with something so silly! Lewinsky and minidrivers...we so crazy! Crazy Americans...

I'm anxiously awaiting the Full OpenGL ICD...any day now...will be very interested to hear what developers think of it..

Side Question: Do people here really thing TDFX can get away with selling a $300-$500 board (I know, they don't sell boards- you know what I mean). I have seen these numbers several times for Rampage, and I think $500 is a joke, and I even think the days of snatching up $299 cards are a thing of the past. Rampage may be $299 for a few weeks...but I just don't see that market where the first million cards are sold at $299. Opinions?

PS (Yeah, Chip, I know you'd buy 4 of 'em, regardless of price :)

I guess he really really wants a good OpenGL ICD :)

Too bad, none of the products out there deliver. I've been waiting for a good OpenGL solution for many years (and 1000's of $). They don't exist. The TNT has no real geometry accelaration, neither does ATI or 3dfx. In 3DSMAX, my SOFTWARE rendered driver outperforms all of the above (including Permedia 2), because of MP support. The only card on the horizon that has a hope of fixing this is the Permedia 3 (if 3dlabs can survive the brutal competition).

I, like brian would love to see 3dfx fix the OpenGL ICD. Let's hope they get it done by January, as promised.

BTW, programmers can get very religious about things like these. You tend to get attached to a feature/standard, and judge everything by it. For instance, I judge ALL video cards based on their 2D scrolling speed (for huge text windows), and ability to run games on NT. By that measure, the Banshee is the ONLY possible choice.
