These are mostly centered in Europe obviously but have developed interest at US companies as well. Standards are important for some markets but it's not unusual for many proprietary systems to develop for security or segments of the banking industry. One standard for finger print security - at least at some "hardware abstraction layer" level will likely develop over the next 4-6 years. I think that delSecur has the right strategy - to gain support among major institutions and industry players. delSecur's edge right now is with the European markets and high volume US markets will be more difficult until a major communications or computer company gets behind them. Biometric validation is a small but quickly growing segment of the computer industry. It is likely to become much more important and may eventually become a standard appliance with massive volumes. That would necessitate standards similar to those adopted for all other common PC and computer interfaces.
