You know, given the technology we have today, it would probably be possible to have a true democracy - one where people would vote on ideas instead of people. That would take a lot of the "politics" out of the system. Less ego, less posturing, less bickering. But it would have its drawbacks too. I don't think that the American people are ready for it. There would be much less deliberation about specific topics. And I think that there are just too many uninformed voters out there.
