One thing about apples, the Chinese are dumping huge quantities of apple juice concentrate out on the open market. I've seen apple cider selling at $1.69 a gallon--cheapest in years. It has put pressure on the apple growers and they are allowing fruit to rot. On a similar note last year Wisconsin potato farmers fed a third of their crop to the cows rather then sell below cost of growing, cleaning, and packing (we have more cows than people in my county). Even so, potatoes have been at multi-year lows ever since. --Al
