Excellent suggestion re the monitor. I shall definitely keep this in mind. It might make that long delayed trip to the Sony Outlet occur faster than expected [I'm leaning towards a 17" SOny but don't have the model number handy].

Since you seem quite knowlegable, here's one I have asked a number of people in computer stores with a total lack of success in an answer: assuming my new PC is going to be using Windows 98, will I still be able to disable Windows and work straight from DOS, as I can now?

There are a few DOS programs I use that I can not upgrade since the companies that made them got bought-out or something--I have tried to locate them or who bought them with a total lack of success. Since I have been totally unable to find substitute programs, I intend to continue using them. If necessary, I shall use them on this machine. Ideally, I'd like to use them on the new one.
