The hypocrisy being displayed on the Right is staggering in its scope and profoundly destructive in its impact. That is the issue here. I remember watching the Iran-Contra hearings while Oliver North boasted of lying to Congress about trading arms for hostages and waging a secret war in Central America. The republicans and North just snickered and winked (like a bunch of high school brats) and thought it was so cool since Congress was just a bunch of old windbags. I rememeber Ronald Reagan saying 34 times UNDER OATH in Oliver North's later trial that he did not recall certain events having to do with major foreign policy decisions. Everyone knew it was BS but just shrugged their shoulders. Now we have Henry Hyde and his cohorts posing as God's defenders of America, wrapping themselves in the AMerican flag and tearfully begging us to understand how hard this is for them while they have practically shoved our faces in Bill and Monica's crotch. Telling us how horrible it is that some one should lie under oath. As for excusing Clinton he has hardly been excused. He has been degraded non stop since this began. But to answer your question YES we should let this go. Everyone agrees that the Govenor of a state should be held to higher standard and everyone agrees that speeding is a crime but no one with a scintilla of common sense would suggest that halting government and spending millions of tax payers dollars (you remember tax payers dollars- those were those things that the Republican's were going to quit wasting)to pursue a governor who has speeded is a reasonable use of resources.
