Dog And Pony Show
uspolitics.miningco.com

Dateline: 12/09/98

"The great mass of people . . .
will more easily fall victim to a big
lie than to a small one."
Adolf Hitler (1889-1945),
German dictator. Mein Kampf,
vol. 1, ch. 10 (1925).

The first day of the Dog
and Pony Show, known as
"Clinton's Defense", began
on Tuesday. Since there
has never been a valid
defense to the charges
against William Jefferson
Clinton presented, it
surprised no one that his
legal coterie presented no
factual rebuttal this time
either. Instead, they
continued haranguing the
messenger, attacking the
proceedings, and insisting
that Darling Bill should not
be impeached. (After all -
everybody loves the Bill!) [If
you happen to be of a
different opinon, don't get
violent, get even on the
Bulletin Boards!]

To prop up their
arguments, they drug to the
tables several "panels" of
retired officials from the
Carter and Johnson
Administrations, along with
other has beens, such as
Elizabeth Holtzman.
Holtzman was the darling of
the Feminists during the 60's
and 70's and her main claim
to fame was sitting on the
Democratic House
Impeachment Panel for
Richard Nixon. She now
floats from talking head
show to talking head show,
telling everyone how it ought
to be, since that's the way it
really was. Unfortunately for
Ms. Holtzman, there are
certified records which dispute her current version of
events of the previous impeachment proceedings.
Nevertheless, she insists she is an expert that should
be listened to, even though her position at the time of
Watergate was found lacking and she was outvoted
handily.

There were, of course, several elderly law professors
from throughout the country. Being a law professor
this past year has become a most prolific profession -
since it wins one a spot on any talk show in the land,
not to speak of the numerous Congressional hearings.
Ah well! Every profession has its day, it seems!

Clinton's legal team freely admitted that Clinton lied
and his behavior was very bad. They now seem to be
bent on insisting that such things as perjury and
obstruction of justice just simply don't rise to
impeachment because it's all so personal. Never mind
that all of us have been drug through the mire in the
daily news ad nauseum. Still, they insist, he didn't
screw the country - he only screwed Monica!

Last week, we explained how Bill Clinton had literally
saved the day by uniting and fortifying the Republican
determination to impeach his sorry butt when he stuck
his arrogant finger in their eye with his continuing lies
in his "81 Answers To Admissions". Thanks Bill, they
needed that!

After the hearings got going, it became apparent that
Clinton's folks had released their 184 page Legal
response to the media, but had failed to give the
Committee their required courtesy copy. Needless to
say, the Chairman and others were not amused by
such oversights.

GOP members of the panel kept asking them if they
had any evidence to offer the committee. They wanted
to see something that might refute the thousands of
pages of evidence that have been brought before the
Committee. Alas, the only "evidence" they have is how
terribly mean everyone is to poor little Billy.

Brothers and Sisters, it's enough to make you lose a
perfectly good day of eating. But stay tuned! There's
more. They'll be parading out some more opinion
sayers on Wednesday. They're intent on convincing
us all that committing a series of felonies is an ok thing
for the Big Guy. After all - he's the prez.

If it starts to really get you down, just stop and think
how much worse it could get! They're threatening to
get him to apologize again. And there ain't a corpuscle
amongst us that can live through that!

Then there's the Toesucker…

You guessed wrong again softcash. I do not come from the "far right". For example, while I am personally opposed to abortion and I personally believe it is murder, I think it is also folly for the government to try to regulate it. It is simply too personal and divisive an issue. We must change the culture and develop a broad concensus that abortion is an evil which must be stopped. Likewise, although I have served my country I do not believe and can not support anti-flag burning amendments to the Constitution. I believe this would impinge on the most sacred of our freedoms, our freedom of speech. I am a patriot, who served his country though not even called (I volunteered) and cannot stand the lying, perjuring, office abusing, perjury suborning, justice obstructing, pervert who currently sullies the Oval Office and the Presidency. As for loving myself, I do not know how you reach such a conclusion since you know absolutely NOTHING about me. You are correct in that I sign everyone of my posts with my initials. How that translates into loving myself is probably best explained by individuals who would defend a perjurer in our highest office. JLA
