the important magnet trendline intersection on the SP 500 occurs next Tuesday at a value of 1037 (or so). My point of not wanting to see a run up going into that date is in association with recent important magnet trendline crossover dates which seemed to be directly correlated with important bottoms or tops in the market. It is not a full study yet as I have only tested back to July 97. It is also not 100% accurate, darn no holy grail...

dates of important trendline crossovers:

7.11.97
10.28.97
2.2.98
3.4.98
9.4.98
9.23.98
11.24.98
12.22.98

I may have been one or two days early on RFMD short. a look at the short term technicals shows it is ready to rumble and not overbought. May cover sometime Monday AM if the market even smells of upward movement. Will look to reenter Tuesday/Wed.

Doug,

Recalling your Gap 20 strategy and wondering would 40 be a popular magnet to expect reversal or in case of a gap over 40, a strong continuation? 40 blends the square of 9 with the degrees in a circle and perhaps 40 is highly connected via fractal intersection to other number series/sets. Circles are highly fib magnatized.

gann said important intersections occur when price is square 3 different ways. suppose he means,

1. the ATH seed
2. the ATL seed
3. the unity seed of 1 in the boilerplates

iow, a fractal price series is best connected via trendline to important pivots but a statistically sweet bet could be placed based simply on price action around 40? My assumption is 40 intersects number series/sets that start from 1. This makes 40 a hub if indeed there are many ways to hit that spot from 1.

A gap over/below 40 scan could be visually screened for trendline intersections from important pivots. Perhaps there are too few gap 40's and the scan needs to encompass several of these magnets. A simple modification to the gap 20 scan could catch the gap 40's. Then time would tell if there's any validity to gap 40's. I'm interested in the results but don't have the time to pursue it. A study of gap 60's would be kewl too. An alternate strategy assumes 20, 40, 60 hold rather than gap and is also of interest. Osci

PS, looking forward to Orlando.
