I say the belief is irrational because it can no more be proved than can the opposite assertion but I do give credit for it being a negative assertion. So in my hierarchy it is less irrational- how is that? And I admit to accepting certain things as given- for example that you are not holding a nation within your hand. That little green men from outer space are not controlling my brain (they are controlling Bob's and I applaud him for admitting it). etc. But I can't prove any of that and I would say I was irrational if I spent a lot of time and energy NOT believing it. I have come to the conclusion that perhaps nothing can be absolutely known- I know, Descartes was way ahead of me, but I am not sure I even agree with "cogito ergo sum". Even that involves a level of belief. Now practically I would much rather hang out with Del- I have much more in common with him, except that I only annoy people with my philosophy on the net. However, reasonably and rationally I find agnosticism the only tenable position. We can argue about it if you want.
