Bruce - RE: "Would it be worth the wait for Sharptooth after Christmas. Tom's seems to think that the Sharptooth is in production but not released (by vendor request) prior to christmas."

Yup, it will be worth the wait, but the question is do you want to wait? First of all, we don't know the exact release date of the K6-3. Second of all, it took some time for the K6-2 400 to get in vendor's hands. I expect it to be worse with the K6-3 because most OEMs will want a big allocation of the chip because it will be such a great performer.

My advice: Get a super 7 motherboard and stick in a K6 or K6-2 266, and when the K6-3 comes out, upgrade to that. You say you have $2000 to burn and the price of a 266 is relatively low. I am contemplating doing the same thing.
