You will not get a sensible answer. I'm still trying to get any Christian (specially Bob) to splain how Moses could tell God he ought to be ashamed for wanting to kill the people for just worshipping a little old idol. Guess Moses was God intead of Jesus cause he said it was his father who was God. Gee now I'm getting confused. Was Moses Jesus father?

nihil,
Jesus was not armed Himself. But it was to fulfill a prophecy about Himself that His disciples had some swords. Jesus did stop them and heal the slaves ear. This also happened before the Holy Spirit was given to the believers.

Jesus says that His Gospel will set one against another. He knew what the future held. But more than you do, He knew that our warfare is not against flesh and blood but principalities and powers, the forces of wickedness in high places. That is the devil and his angels that are being referred to in those sayings. The devil is behind all the attempts to stop the gospel, he is always scheming to stop the spread of the true gospel of Jesus Christ. That is the true source of the conflicts.

Bob

nihil,
No doubt you will not be satisfied with my answer to Sam's post so I will say a little more. God was setting out to raise up a nation through which He could reveal Himself to the world. They had been following the pillar of smoke, being healed just by looking at the snake on the pole, and being fed by manna from heaven. Having witnessed all these miracles they still "looked back" to Egypt where they could have meat. They built an Egyptian idol and worshipped it after all that. Jesus said when He was here, Anyone who puts his hand to the plow and then looks back is unfit for the Kingdom of God. Lot's wife looked back and look what happened. These people were unfit for God's mission for them, they were holding up the process. But Moses saved some of them by interceding between them and God. God listened to Moses. But they were still unfit and they wandered in the wilderness for 40 years until every one of them who had been a slave in Egypt passed away from natural causes. They were unfit to be a part of a nation to reveal God to the world. Not one of them entered into the promised land.
