OFF TOPIC -- Agreed it's important that Hyde is not President.
It is also pretty important that a clown like Livingston who made a total mess of the budget process this year not be a heartbeat away.
I suppose Hyde was not put to the test of interrogation under oath about his sexual misconduct. But as to whether he lied on TV (a mortal sin, no doubt), isn't he the same Mr. Hyde who tried to dismiss as a "youthful indiscretion" a multi-year affair with a married woman who had three children, at a time when Hyde was in his 40s and in public office, which affair contributed to the breakup of a marriage? Does it depend on what the definition of "youthful" is? And did he even tell the truth about his own marital status to the then Mrs. Snodgrass? See

Hyde did not lie under oath, did not lie on TV...

Charles, perhaps, but Hyde is the one who praised Oliver North and excused his lies to Congress because they were made in service of a "higher purpose".

Neither side deserves much respect in this current process and the best I can hope for is that the backlash is focused only on the far right - the Bob Barrs of the party - and moderate Republicans will lead the party once again.

The ridiculous thing is that there is NO chance the Senate will remove Clinton from office, so this effort by the right to impeach can only harm the party and the nation. There would be no dishonor, IMO, if they concluded, now that all the facts are in, that some lesser punishment was appropriate.

The self-destructive behavior of the right astounds me.

Regards,
Bob
