<< By the by, it was a Federal Appeals Court that ruled the Clinton perjury may have materially affected the outcome of the Jones case. >> The Jones case should have been thrown out from the beginning. To me, it was a very weak case that was used against President Clinton by his enemies. President Clinton did not mislead, in the Jones deposition, to deny Jones her right to a fair trial, he misled to avoid embarrassment from his tryst with a White House intern, and because he felt that the Jones suit was basically a trumped up charge in an attack against his presidency. << Should perjury and witness tampering by defendants in sexual Harassment cases go unpunished in the future? >> Clinton can be charged with these crimes after he leaves office. << Do you really want to defend actions such as this when committed by a President or anyone? >> Just as I don't feel adultery should be punishable by the death penalty, I don't feel impeachment is a proper punishment for Clinton's alleged offenses. << Ok, fine! Enjoy your liberal enlightenment >> Thanks, I sure will. You should try liberalism once in a while instead of uncompassionate McCarthyism. <g> << The man went to elaborate lengths in an attempt to squash the Jones case. :-) >> Elaborate lengths??? I don't think so. But, if he did, it's more of a reason to not allow sitting Presidents to be harrassed by civil suits while in office. It takes too much valuable time from his schedule. << Clintons ultimate removal would be a great victory for the anti-sexual harassment cause. >> But, on the other hand...... If the Jones case was just an attack by Clinton's enemies, and if it didn't really happen, a Clinton survival would be a victory for those that have been accused of crimes, but were innocent. Oh, you probably forgot, but, even the lowest of the low is innocent until proven guilty. << But if we allow Clinton's Perjury to slide...should men not fear being caught perjuring themselves in such cases? >> Once again...... He can be prosecuted "after" he leaves office. Is it worth the significant damage to our country to go ahead with the impeachment? NO! Of course not. He has shown himself to be a very able and competent leader. His chances of getting caught with his zipper down again is almost nil. So, why go on a destructive path towards impeachment?
