MG, Re: Mutual Funds

I tend to view the mutual fund area as more long term. I can flip stocks with the best of them. The only real benefit (and a good one) is that it would essentially allow you to short the market in a retirement account.

But, generally, a mutual fund has had to beat the index over 1-, 3-, 5-, and 10 years to come on my good guys list. It gets the list down to a reasonable number in a hurry. At the end of September, there were only 5 that made the cut: Fidelity Select Health Care, Janus Twenty, MFS Massachusetts Inv Growth A, Vanguard Spec Health Care, and Vanguard U.S. Growth.
