More money there is, then the competition for goods gets increased by larger amounts of money.

IMVHO...One thing I remember from Economics 101 class was the definition of inflation....In its simplest of terms it can be classified as "too much money chasing too few goods"....so perhaps the opposite of what you thought would be a bit more likely.
