Valueman: Yes, it will be hard to quantify exactly the differences. Comments by some (asking for convergence) would suggest that there is a difference, although not much (from their point of view). None the less, it would limit (to some degree smaller or not) the capacity for these TDMA based operators with no benefit for them (just less revenue).

I can understand the CDG want to protect their market area and likewise manufacturers and operators of GSM equipment for theirs. If the majority of GSM operators come in favor for convergence then it would happen (wouldn't it?). To date, they haven't.

Who says that the GSM operators are not up in arms about it? They are more likely to be mystified at the Ericsson proposal and question it.

Isn't Stooge part of Christmas too? Sorry to spoil the party, but I doubt that I am. Just trying to show another side of the story...in the long term I may be wrong, but then I may be right. The next 3 weeks are going to be very interesting, not the least for the ITU.
