For those to lazy to click: THE NEWS Monday December 14, 6:03 am Eastern Time Company Press Release StockTIPS, Nokia, CBS MarketWatch and DBC Launch Integrated Seamless Financial Tracking Package SAN ANTONIO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Dec. 14, 1998--StockTIPS announced today it has launched an all-in-one alerting service and financial news package with Nokia (NYSE:NOKA - news), CBS MarketWatch and Data Broadcasting Corporation (NASDAQ:DBCC - news). MarketWatch is a joint venture between CBS Inc. (NYSE:CBS - news) and Data Broadcasting Corporation. StockTIPS utilizes content from CBS MarketWatch and DBC. The service provides investors and investment managers with access to critical financial information on their portfolios in real-time, through digital wireless (PCS) devices. The package is designed around StockTIPS' Internet-based Portfolio Management which allows investors to customize their portfolios of stock, stock options, commodities, futures, futures options, indices, and/or news using specific tracking criteria. When criteria are met, the investors receive alert messages and the vital information is provided in real-time via their digital phones. Investors can also be reached through a pager, PC, PalmPilot, Win CE, or any other email capable device. The service is particularly well suited for Nokia's new 6100 series digital wireless phones, which weigh less than six ounces and offer up to eight hours of talk time and nine days of standby time. While StockTIPS' service is available on most digital phones that support email, Nokia's product innovations are attractive to the same type of consumer that seeks StockTIPS' service. ''This level of integration of real-time data, stock and commodity monitoring, news, and remote access through wireless gives the mobile investor unprecedented access and freedom,'' StockTIPS president Michael Wade said. ''Most importantly, it allows investors to stay in touch with their portfolios anytime, anywhere, with real-time data from leaders in the financial information markets.'' The demand for multimedia services among mobile subscribers has resulted in a trend among major wireless and data services toward offering new types of combined service packages. At the PCS'98 industry show in Orlando, Nokia officials released estimates that there may be as many as one billion mobile subscribers in the year 2005 and that a substantial portion of the phones sold that year will likely have multimedia capabilities. The December-January launch includes national investor media and Internet advertising, along with local newspaper support in select markets.
