Scott,

You are exactly right about the remapping of 1.5x multiplier to 3.5x. But for some reason, my system doesn't boot reliably into Windows 98 with anything over 66 MHz. For the time being, I am using the computer in 66x3.5=233 MHz or PR-300.

When I tried other settings, like 75x3.5=262 MHz or 83x3.5=290 Mhz it boots fine into DOS, but I get a GPF in something called RPCC, or something like that in Win 98.

I didn't look at it this weekend. I may try to play with the memory settings. So far I left them on BIOS default.

My motherboard is TX based Asus P55T2P4, which unoficially supports 75 and 83 Mhz. I have 3 PCI cards - Matrox Mill. 2, 3COM 905 and Adaptec 2940, any of which may not be happy with bus speed over 33 MHz.

Any ideas?

Joe
