Michael, that is a pretty good interpretation of the PR battle for mindshare. However, I think the Europeans are shooting every bullet they have while behind the scenes compromising. They need a converged 3G for Ericsson to regain profit momentum. See today's news. wj

It continues to amaze me that Qualcomm gets so little credit in these types of articles for the work they did in bringing CDMA to market. They're treated as if they are any ole company trying to wrangle their way in somewhere that they really don't belong.

And this is the first time we've seen this interpretation of the ITU announcement but it probably jibes with what Mika is hearing in Europe:

"This uncharacteristically uncoded edict basically means that if the
CDMA camp doesn't start to negotiate reasonably on intellectual property it's not
going to be allowed to play in the construction of a global phone standard by being
allowed to submit candidate Radio Transmission Technologies (RTTs) for
consideration."

Michael P. - Great article. I'm glad to see someone somewhere is detecting the Ericsson BS, especially when it is someone who obviously isn't pro-Qualcomm. Where was this published?
