Did Bob Barr really cheat on all THREE of his wives and NOT pay child support? Yes. Bob Barr was taken to court twice for failing to pay alimony and child support. The issue was a major argument against Barr in the 1994 Congressional elections, when he ran against incumbent Democrat Buddy Darden. Barr viciously spread all sorts of rumors about Darden's personal life during the election, and alleged adultery by Darden on several occasions. In response, Darden's campaign leveled charges that Barr had been married three times and had been taken to court twice by his ex-wives for overdue alimony and child support payments. Both times, the court ordered Barr to pay under penalty of contempt. Barr did so, proving that he had the money to support his children, he just simply elected not to. Barr was well known by Democratic operatives to have engaged in adulterous affairs during his first two marriages. Testimonials to Barr's proclivities were relatively easy to come by when he was a U.S. Attorney in Georgia and before his first congressional race. What came as a surprise were reports that Barr had also cheated on his third wife, reports which later proved to be true. "Bob Barr is a sex addict in the classic sense," says an Atlanta psychologist. "He has pursued women vigorously over the years, and often to his detriment. He's been turned down by women a lot, and his short stature undoubtedly has had a lot to do with his masculine insecurity." Barr has indeed lost two big divorce suits, which seriously hamper his net income. Barr has been maneuvering of late to supplement his income by floating book ideas about his Impeachment pursuit of President Clinton. To date, no one has leaped to pay him anything.
