Total Passport switch shipments now exceed 10,000 units worldwide. A phased, but aggressive, deployment of the Nortel Networks' Passport 7000 series began in mid-1997 and Passport is now the Global One standard switching platform worldwide, providing frame relay and now ATM service to a global customer base. Customers will increasingly benefit from better quality for frame relay services as traffic from a wide range of services is integrated over higher speed trunks.
